NCVER Workforce Skills through skill sets research Publication

WRI's Danielle Ranshaw, in conjunction with Kaye Bowman and John Mills and David Crean of TAFE NSW have recently had a research report published by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). The article, Workforce skills development and engagement in training through skill sets, examines the role skill sets (groupings of competecies below qualification level) play, compared with full qualifications, in the VET system. The report looks at a case study of agrifoods students.

Funding Win for Dubbo Regional Athletics Centre

Dubbo City Concil has been awarded $3.5m from the Regional Development Australia Fund for the Barden Park Regional Centre for excellence in athletics. In securing the funds, DCC engaged WRI to provided an independant analysis to support the application.

Post Budget Forum

Bathurst Business Chamber will be holding a Post Budget Forum this coming Tuesday night (15th May) including WRI CEO Tom Murphy as a panelist. Tom will be joined on the panel by Adrian Finch from Reliance Credit Union, Senator Matt Thistlethwaite, Duty Senator for Calare and David Cooke, Regional Principal at WHK Central West.

Organiser Jess Jennings said of the event “This forum is a big step in that direction by creating a public conversation that all Bathurst people and businesses can attend to either ask specific questions and learn about local economic impacts, or just listen to what the expert panel has to say.”

Although organised by the Bathurst Business Chamber, the event is open to the community, and will cover the impacts of the budget, not only on business. The Post Budget Forum will be held at 6pm at the Flannery Centre, Bathurst.
